TOPIC:  LOVE, THE BOND OF PERFECTION

 TEXT FOR TODAY: COLOSSIANS 3:14

14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.

REFLECTION

Paul introduces love in our text today as a bond of perfection. This bond is what keeps husbands and wives together in holy matrimony. It keeps brothers and sisters together in a family. It keeps members of a congregation together in the church. It keeps the society together as one. It breaks the barrier of racism among nations and keeps people of different backgrounds, nationalities and status together as one. Any society, nation, family or church where the bond of love is lacking, there will always be crisis, division, hatred, disunity and war. The Church in Colosse had started to experience division and hate, when Paul exhorted them to put on love which is the bond of perfection.

Is your marriage disintegrating? Is your relationship with your siblings in a bad shape? What about your relationship with your parents or children? What about your relationship with your colleagues at work, school, neighbourhood, etc? It is time to put on love as a garment. Many families and relationships need healing. You can start that healing process in your marriage and relationship by putting on love that will break the barrier of disunity and bring yourselves together in the bond of love and perfection.

A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

Prayer

1 LORD God Almighty, please, give me the grace to put on love as a garment, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

2 Father Almighty, please, heal my hurting relationships in my family, that peace and unity will reign sovereign, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

3 Help me LORD to be an agent of love, peace and unity as I put on the bond of perfection, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
